AWWTM: Bridge Diet time

Inspired and motivated by the Cyclists in the City blog, cyclists and bicycle and pedestrian friendly local politicians have been fighting a road redesign in London.  There is nothing unusual about the road design — it is much like the road designs that we have been given for decades, which prioritise the fast movement of large amounts of machinery above the needs of the majority of people.  But this time the people have snapped and say enough is enough.  In this particular post I explain some of the quirky and counter intuitive research on how roads and traffic work, and what that research means the current road design plans in London.  You can read it at At War With The Motorist
