This goes back a lot longer than 2011. In fact, the same things were being said <a href="http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2011/10/go-by-bike-holland-shows-way-news-just.html">in 1981</a>, claims of "safety in numbers" due to the increase <a href="http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2010/02/is-cycling-getting-safer-in-britain.html">in 2010</a>, it goes <a href="http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2010/04/cycling-is-booming-in-uk.html">on</a> and <a href="http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2010/06/cycle-paths-are-too-expensive.html">on</a>. I write about it <a href="http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2010/06/cycle-paths-are-too-expensive.html">quite</a> <a href="http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2011/01/cyclists-special.html">a</a> <a href="http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2011/11/how-bikeability-and-cycling-proficiency.html">lot</a>.Actually, I can remember having just the same discussions ten years ago, and I’ve had them this spring as well. At any given time in the UK, but <a href="http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2011/03/beware-cyclists-of-spring.html">even more-so each spring</a>, there is always someone who claims that their vague feeling that there might be an increase trumps any actual statistics which show a long term decline.
